We’re glad you’re thinking about checking out Cedar Lane! Let us make it as easy as possible.

If you have any questions we can answer to help you feel more comfortable for your first visit, feel free to contact us!

Here are some questions we often hear from folks:

What time does worship start?
9:00 on Sunday mornings. It usually ends between 10:15 and 10:30.

What should I wear?
Whatever feels most natural to you! We don’t have a dress code, so you’ll find people here who are wearing everything from jeans and T-shirts to dresses and ties. Most folks are somewhere in between. The preacher usually wears a polo shirt and khakis, or a sweater in the winter.

What about kids?
We really work to be a kid-friendly church. We have a staffed nursery throughout worship for kids under 2, and kids 3-4 years-old are welcome to join children’s church in the preschool wing when it starts right before the sermon. Besides that, we have a full slate of kids programming during our classes after worship.

What about child safety?
We follow a child safety protocol that includes double-staffing our classes, volunteer screening, and other measures. If you’d like to talk to somebody about it, let us put you in touch with Andrew Collins, our youth and children’s minister, and he can fill you in on the details.

What happens at worship?
In worship, we sing, pray, and read scripture together. We have a sermon that usually lasts about 25-30 minutes, and share communion together.

Can I take communion?
Jesus gave his followers a beautiful gift in the practice of communion. All are welcome at Jesus’s table and are invited to receive his gift of grace! (Note: since the onset of Covid, the communion emblems are set out on tables in the back of the auditorium. please pick one up as you come in.)

What about covid precautions?
A high number of our church members have been vaccinated, but we still encourage people to make wise and cautious decisions in mitigating exposure. While transmission rates are high in our area, we have a section of our auditorium (on the left as you come in) that is designated for people social distancing and wearing masks. We also encourage people with heightened vulnerabilities to participate via online streaming until they feel comfortable returning.
